Warrention #3 Wrap Up: My Favorite Purchase

11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139: 11-14

Do you see my favorite thing?

Look at this stained glass window!

I found this photo on Pinterest that gave me the inspiration:

Before, we had the curtain covering the window entirely (this picture was taken at night...):

We are now enjoying more natural light in the kitchen, plus a shimmering green in some places!

My parents were in town this weekend, so my dad and Nate worked together to measure, screw, hang, re-screw, hang again, level, etc. Here are some photos of the process.

There were already holes at the top of the window from where its original hinges were, so that made screwing in the small ceiling hooks (which can hold 25 lbs each, so that window is not going anywhere!) a bit easier.

They put two ceiling hooks on the stained glass window and two more ceiling hooks inside the original window (you can see it above Nate's right hand at the top). We went to True Value and purchased a 1' chain (skinniest chain they had which can still hold substantial weight) and had them cut it into two 6" pieces. If you want your window higher, you can cut the chains shorter.

Tightening the open ends of the chain: again, that window isn't going anywhere!

Gorgeous! It's hard to take pictures with the sun shining directly through, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It is beautiful and so bright!

It looks SO good. SO good. SO good. (yep, worth three times saying it).

The inspiration photo has a shelf added, but I'm going to just use our window sill for things like that. These stained glass windows are EXPENSIVE too. If I wanted to get a full rectangle (like in the inspiration photo), it could have easily cost $200. This smaller window was $35, which is definitely more in my budget :)

What do you think? It is a definite upgrade in my book!
