Wing-Back Chair Eye Candy

At the beginning of the summer, my school always hosts a "garage" sale (anyone can bring items to sell and all the proceeds benefit our school)! So during my work day, someone dropped off two wing-back chairs...

Umm, hello: I have been wanting matching chairs for my soon-to-be reading nook in the dining room!!! Remember? Right here, one on each side of the "buffet" thing:

So, I snatched up those babies quiccckkkk! At an antique store in town, I had seen matching (not wing-back) chairs for $50 each. I asked the teacher in charge of our school sale what I should pay and she let me make an offer: perk of being a teacher there! So I paid $45 for both. I'm sure I could find some cheaper chairs on CraigsList, but these were RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Purchased!

I wanted to see if I could reupholster them myself using some sort of tutorial I hoped to find online or on Pinterest... I found a couple but received some bad news when reading all of them. You have to take the chair completely apart, down to its wooden bones (see this tutorial here to understand my concerns)! I am not a craftsman (although my Grandpa was, but I don't think I inherited that many of those genes from him) and that made me nervous. Eventually, we would like to get them upholstered by a professional. Here are some beautiful wing-back chairs that will be the inspiration!

Bold pattern: so fun.

These next two both have a fun pattern on the back and a solid on the front with an accented throw pillow: I think this is the direction I'm leaning towards!

I like this one for its nail head trim. Gorgeous.

This one has a neutral as the geometric print and then uses a bold, colorful pattern as the throw pillow. This is also super cute and what I may end up doing as well!

Do you spend your days eyeing out the perfect furniture pieces for your home? Or do you impulse buy? Or both? Also, have you ever had anything professionally upholstered? It may cost a few $$$. We'll see! Happy Thursday!
